believe it or
not. I didn't quite believe it because my dad (I'm so sorry, Dad) does not look anything like that. Everyone's impressions on Umeda's parents were hilarious, because they couldn't
believe Umeda had such gorgeous looking parents. Maybe it's because of Azuma's handsome looks that enabled him to look this young - ahh, fangirl bait true beauty.
At one point, Mizuki even wondered if she and
Rio were twin sisters. Seira is very much in love with Azuma and they occasionally flaunt it in public, something that annoyed Umeda to no end. It still hasn't even sunk in that she is also a
grandmother (Nanba's grandmother) because she looks way better than about 70% of other shoujo heroines out there. Yeah, I know, praise Nakajo's insane
ability to beautify her characters to the extreme.
She is Umeda's younger sister and attends an all girls school called the St.
Blossoms High School. She's on really good terms with Mizuki and helps her out with her dresses at the Christmas Ball. She's quite a hyper character at times,
but mostly because she'd do anything to make sure people don't find out she's actually Nanba's aunt. ^_^;
is utterly delightful as crack because Umeda utterly hates
her (not literally, of course, since it's COMEDY), though he doesn't dare voice his opinions of her out loud. Umeda tries as hard as he could to stay away from
her whenever she's around. She's also the reason why Umeda turned delightfully gay (she tortured him by dressing him up in dresses when he was young) thus, it was probably Io who warped his opinions of women since then. I believe Umeda wouldn't be as hilarious if straight as he is now. But despite how Io
comes off, she does have a more serious and soft side to her, and one she shows to Mizuki by giving her perspectives on Mizuki's charade and going through the
trouble of finding her a vest so she could hide certain stuff I'm sure no one expects to see on a boy. ^_~
Nakao Senri
is madly in love with the guy. He's one of the dorm leaders in the dormitory. He was also subjected to Io's 'tortures' when he was young - she made him go out in
dresses. What I find most amusing here is that he doesn't seem to realize it's unnatural and went with the flow. A very smooth and great character who had
experienced his own emotional turmoil in his young days.
Despite how Umeda had claimed to
avoid women, it's very clear that he cares a great deal about Mizuki. Whenever she has problems, she usually goes to him, a fact that he doesn't seem to be
pleased with, but he usually goes along with the flow. His own ways of cheering her up would be to flaunt outrageously in a skimpy bikini and showing a naked
picture of himself. It's also through Mizuki that we get to see a lot of Umeda's sides.
A majority of
the time we see him in Hanakimi is when he usually forces himself on Umeda, who is definitely not happy about it, which is unusual at first, because you'd think
Umeda would've latched onto a good-looking guy like Akiha when thinking of all the times when Umeda seduces random pretty guys. Umeda spends all his time
insulting and hiding away from the guy whenever he pops by.
Not much information is revealed about Ryouichi's family in Hanakimi or Yume Miru Happa. However, listed
below are characters that have shown up in both series.
She was best friends with Rio when they were
young, though she didn't make an appearance at Hanakimi after Volume 14 (though in an interview, Kayashima stated that he did, in fact, dance with her in the
Christmas Ball.) But she is in Yume Miru Happa with Ryouichi, working as an astrologer. Shuna is considered one of the people who Ryouichi shows his 'true'
face to.
Kijima's mom at all, aside from Shuna living with her. However, his dad did show up in Umeda's side story. Volume 14 reveals that Ryouichi and his dad has
a seriously distant relationship, since they did not interact at all in the hospital. I assume the separation (and other problems) is
what made Ryouichi out to be the person he is today.
Masato's job in Yume Miru Happa is to read tarot cards. This person is also whom
Ryouichi cares deeply for when he was young, although he seems to have grown out of it a few years later, judging by their relationship in the manga.
Ryouichi and Masato used to be very close, and they still are, except now on different levels.
