The doctor at the private Osaka Academy (Seitai licensed). While his treatments are extreme, his skill is quite evident. He knows Mizuki Ashiya's secret but says nothing, even giving her advice. Gay to the core, he has been in love with his close friend since high school, Ryouichi Kijima. He has a father, Azuma Umeda, a mother, Seira Umeda, an older sister, Io Nanba, a younger sister, Rio Umeda, and a nephew, Minami Nanba.

Interpreted Profile
According to the mangaka, he led an unhealthy life of waking up at 8 in the morning and having only coffee as breakfast (a typical life for doctors). It was also in the morning that his temper is at its worst. Umeda Hokuto is also gay, and he flaunts it - though he treats his job seriously, and mercilessly. ^_~ It was because he's gay that he discovered Mizuki's secret instantly. It's one of his traits that first drew my attention to him, though it wasn't until later that his full character traits emerged that my opinion of him changed from a guy who's there for fan-service to someone who is essential to the plot, and who cares for Mizuki - and demonstrates it in his own way, be it subtle or simply outrageous. Though the manga sometimes show him displeased with the fact that Mizuki kept coming to him for advice, it's obvious he cares for her. He graduated from Osaka High, and now, he works there as the school doctor, though listening to other students' problems is also one of his jobs. It's not a good idea to try and pull a fast one on him (when skipping classes) when his mood is sour.
